Virtual Tour: Jaune Quick-to-See-Smith: Memory Map

Thurs, Aug 10, 2023
12 pm

Online, via Zoom

Join a Whitney Museum Educator to explore the groundbreaking work of Jaune Quick-to-See Smith. A citizen of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Nation, Smith is one of the most influential artists working today. For nearly five decades, she has investigated pressing issues around land use and cultural preservation. The artist and activist’s first major retrospective asks us to reconsider what we think we know about land, heritage, and history.

The thirty-minute session will introduce the exhibition through a discussion of highlights from the show in context. Participants are invited to comment and ask questions through a moderated chat for a fifteen-minute Q&A following the talk.
