Patron Virtual Curator-led Tour: Around Day’s End

Wed, Oct 28, 2020
6–7 pm

Online, via Zoom

Patron, Circle, Fellow, Sponsor members

Explore the collection display Around Day’s End: Downtown New York, 1970–1986 during this online event with exhibition curator Laura Phipps. Featuring paintings, video, photographs, drawings, and archival materials, the show examines twenty artists who approached the city as both provocation and inspiration during an earlier time of uncertainty and crisis for New York fifty years ago.

Central to this show is Gordon Matta-Clark’s Day’s End, an innovative project from 1975 and the inspiration for a new public sculpture by David Hammons, scheduled to be unveiled later this year. Join Phipps as she illuminates works by Hammons and Matta-Clark as well as Alvin Baltrop, Joan Jonas, Martin Wong, and others.

Patron, Circle, Fellow, and Sponsor members are invited to this event on Zoom. Email memberinfo@whitney.org for more information and Zoom registration link.
