Anniversary Curatorial Address: The Whitney’s Inaugural Year and Beyond

Scott Rothkopf, Deputy Director for Programs and Nancy and Steve Crown Family Chief Curator, will address the guiding principles of the Whitney’s exhibition program using recent, current, and upcoming exhibitions as touchstones. These principles include the central role of the collection, the importance of advancing innovative frameworks for thinking about and experiencing art, the Whitney’s commitment to the history of American art in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, as well as the Museum’s role as a vital testing ground for today’s emerging artists.
