Drawn primarily from the Whitney’s collection, Making Knowing: Craft in Art, 1950–2019 features over sixty artists—including Faith Ringgold, Yayoi Kusama, and Robert Rauschenberg—whose use of craft-informed techniques challenge the power structures that determine artistic value. Through the eighty artworks on display, this exhibition inspires a fresh consideration of mediums and techniques that have historically been under-recognized in mainstream American art.
Each tour lasts approximately fifty minutes and will be led by one of the Museum’s Joan Tisch Teaching Fellows. A wine reception will be available throughout the event.
